The Academy

Our first Bentonville-based series of skills clinics! Enrolled riders will participate in an 8-week program consisting of one 2-hour class per week.

Riders must first complete a 2+ hour Fundamentals skills clinic through DCA prior to enrollment. Open to ages 12 and up.

Pricing: $70 / 2-hour lesson, one lesson per week for 8 weeks. Max. 4-5 riders.

Course series Overview

Weeks 1-2

Foundational skills (braking, shifting, and body position), cockpit and suspension set-up. Practice with trackstands and footwork as well as bike-body separation. Students will learn how to pump corners and begin choosing lines as they prepare for more advanced cornering skills.

Weeks 3-4

Review bike-body separation and footwork in preparation for roll downs and drops. Riders will also work on ratcheting and front-wheel lifts as applied to climbing and uphill switchbacks.

Weeks 5-6

Body position and footwork for descending. Riders will learn how to read the trail and pick efficient lines through rock gardens through the use of visual cues and proper braking techniques. These classes will also focus on techniques for popping off trail obstacles, riding skinnies, and navigating trees and rocks on the trail.

Weeks 7-8

Review of fundamentals, cornering, jumps, and drops. Students will learn how to bunny hop, safely take a spill, and manual between rollers (for advanced students). Race prep and recovery for those interested in racing in 2023 and beyond!
